General Info

(Please note our Youth Camps Cell Phone/Electronics policy)

We strive to uphold health and well-being, seeing it as vitally important to all. Thunder Eagle Ridge uses the freshest ingredients available, including organic foods when reasonably possible. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are provided with all meals. Bringing food to supplement a vegan diet or all other food allergies is encouraged.

The camp has several options for sleeping. As we continue to build the facility, bunks in our bunkhouses are limited. We encourage camping out as a great alternative. It is a unique opportunity to enjoy nature in all of its beauty, fresh air and peaceful surroundings. The camp has a variety of tents sizes and cots available for rental. Please click on the Photo Gallery, and under "Our Facilities" you will see pictures of the camp including pictures of the bunks, and our modern shower rooms.

Youth Camp:

Sleeping in bunks: bedding for twin bed/sleeping bag, pillow. Also bring pajamas, clothing for every day at camp, towel for the river, towel for showering, shampoo, cream rinse, soap, washcloth, flashlight (w/extra batteries), deodorant, hat, bug spray, sunscreen, toothbrush, toothpaste, rain gear, jacket for cool nights, laundry bag, ziploc for wet clothes, swim suit, shoes for hiking, camera (no cell phone cameras please).

Adult Retreat:

All of the above, except for swim gear (most likely will not go swimming). Camping out? Bring your tent, tarp/ground cloth, stakes for tent (can get windy), and optional air mattress.

At Thunder Eagle Ridge a unique feature we provide is to be one with the natural environment. This is a very important feature for today's youth. With a belief that there is a disconnect happening with kids and nature, one way youth can reconnect is to be without a cell phone or electronics for the duration of their stay with us. Therefore, we have implemented a policy of no cell phone or electronic use at camp. We ask that participants either leave their cell phone/electronics at home, or willingly give them to a counselor upon arrival.

We appreciate your understanding and believe that with your support, youth will actually enjoy their stay even more. We have found that, although at the outset the youth may protest, at the end of camp when they are leaving, they have forgotten they even had a cell phone. We feel this is good for them as, it almost seems for some cell phone use is bordering on an addiction.

All youth that attend camp have access to the camp's land line. The phone number is 573-363-5999. Parents who wish to contact their child may do so at anytime from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. We also provide access to the land line at any time, day or night, to the participants.

There are no exceptions to this rule. We appreciate your understanding and do hope that everyone understands the spirit in which this policy is implemented. If as a parent you feel this policy is something you are not able to abide by, or it something your child is unwilling to do, we are sorry, but do ask that they refrain from participating at camp.

We work to keep our programming pricing reasonable to enable all to participate. We appreciate your participation in the programming and tax-deductible contributions so we may continue to build a high-quality facility and adequate accommodations for all who come. Your collaboration with us will also ensure this organization is enabled to maintain a high standard of food and programming. With your support, we will work hard on your behalf to provide a sustainable organization and ensure a healthy environment for all, inside and out.
